Heading up south...

Out the front door our last morning in the Bay of Islands... up early and headed south toward Wellington to see our friends Derek and Rae for a week...

We stayed Sunday night at a Lake Taupo resort, overlooking Lake Taupo, the largest fresh water lake in Australasia, formed by the biggest volcanic ever on the planet.  We liked it so much that we reserved a room for our return to Auckland to fly to Sydney on Sunday... of course the hot springs might have had something to do with that.

Lake Taupo, New Zealand... largest freshwater lake in Australasia... this shot from a nice little sidewalk cafe, Friends, we had breakfast at on the way south and then again headed back north.

Shopping for wool in Tirau, New Zealand... baa, baa...
